We are excited to announce details about two exciting new classes at Charlotte Academy of Music. Our Rock Band and Composition & Songwriting classes are a spin-off of two of our very successful summer camps!
Rock Band class begins October 18th and will meet at the Academy Saturdays from 3:30 – 5:00 PM. In this 6 week session, students will learn recording, rehearsal and songwriting techniques. The band will perform a concert of covers and original material at the conclusion of the class. Playing and performing with other musicians is not only a valuable learning experience, but motivating as well. We welcome all students who have had at least 1 year training on any instrument to participate in our Rock Band! Academy Guitar Instructor, Charles Trotter, will teach this unforgettable class. For more information see our Rock Band website page.
Songwriting and Composition Class will begin on October 16th and will meet on Thursdays at the Academy from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Students who are able to read music and are interested in songwriting and/or classical composition will love this class! Compositions created in class will be appropriate for entry into the NFMC and CMTA student composition contests, should students be interested. Another highlight of the class will be songwriting using the aspects of melody, chord progression and lyrics. Academy Voice and Piano Instructor, Allison Surratt, will teach this exciting 6 week class. For more information and to register, the Songwriting and Composition page on our website.
