Tomeka writes, “I love teaching. Cultivating young singers and preparing them to perform is a great joy. One of my greatest strengths as a teacher is my diverse background in the performing arts. My main goal as a vocal instructor is to help students discover their unique style. For the young singer, discovering their true voice is often an intricate task. In order to meet this goal, trust must be cultivated. It is my job to encourage students and to teach them vocal techniques and songs that will help them to develop their unique voice.
I believe performance is a key component in a student’s vocal development. Performing before an audience is an effective way for students to showcase their development. One of the gifts I bring to teaching is my ability to generate ideas that help students deliver successful performances.”
