While high school seniors are busy addressing graduation party invitations, many Charlotte Academy of Music seniors are sending invitations to another very special event…their Senior Recital. Many Academy students have presented Senior Recitals over the years, which makes us very proud. This very special performance is the highlight of the student’s many years of music study. While some students prefer to keep their recital separate from other graduation related activities, many students combine the recital with the graduation party making it one big event.
Academy student, Hannah Williams, recently performed an incredible high school Senior Piano Recital. She performed works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, Gershwin and more. Hannah has been a member of the Academy’s Piano Artistry program for several years. She was also valedictorian of Independence High School. Hannah will begin UNC Wilmington this fall.
Preparing a solo concert as a high school senior is a serious commitment and one that requires much time and effort. Growing up in music lessons, most students typically perform only one or two pieces on studio recitals. Preparing an entire concert of music is a challenge. At the Academy, we encourage students preparing for a Senior Recital to program music that not only shows their advancement in skills, but also is representative of themselves and the music they enjoy. Over the years, Charlotte Academy of Music students have performed piano, voice and viola senior recitals. We encourage all of our high school students to consider this opportunity. A senior recital is a wonderful culmination of many years of music study, and greatly enjoyed by the student and their family and friends.
